  • eeerm, crazy idea...

    Go into your local bike shops and buy* something that fits rather than something off the internet and have all the faff of sending it back etc when you get the sizing wrong.

    *N.B. buy, not try on then purchase online, if you can get them considerably cheaper online where they are in stock then by all means point this out and try to wangle a bit of a discount.

    The problem there is that sometimes choice in LBS is limited. My LBS has no discounted shoes in, so saving £30-40 with a chance I may have the faff of returning seems reasonable to me

    is it that crazy - my 2 local bike shops don't have a lot of choice, only have a couple of choices in each and they start at £90 so more than I was looking to spend as first time shoes.

    I'd normally prefer to support my local shops but in this case they're beyond my budget.
