Loose spokes
HI Folks,
I have a rear wheel problem. Had the wheel 1 year no probs. Noticed a slight wobble about a month ago on rear wheel, found a loose spoke. Took to LBS who trued the wheel for me, came back re tension and straight. About 1 week/150 miles later, noticed another wobble and found more very loose spokes. Took back to LBS and they re tensioned and trued again, they did a good job, i checked all the spokes myself and the wheel was as straight as new. A commute later and more very loose spokes, I then tightened and trued as best I could to get home, got home and find again more loose spokes.
The rim is Mavic Open Sport, hub is a 105 and standard stainless spokes mared wiht an A.
Any ideas appreciated, I'm about to throw the damn thing in the lake!

The only thing that can be happening is the spoke nipples are loosening as you ride.
Could be the nipple turning in the eyelet in the rim or maybe the eyelet itself turning in the rim ?
Either get the wheel trued again and put loctite on the nipple / eyelet to stop it turning or have the wheel rebuilt with new spokes and nipples.
I found the spokes turning on my Aksiums at the rim and hub, loctited the devils and has been ok sinceHe is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0 -
shouldn't happen particularly if the lbs has done a good job.
I'd unwind all the spokes til the thread is just showing and re-tension and stress relieve myself. Repeat tensioning and stressing until the wheel is true. It sounds to me like the wheel wasn't stressed properly and some spokes were still twisted0
