using a pair of Intense System 4 C3 tyres at the moment
so wondering about this for when its gloopy squelchy mud?
Schwalbe Nobby Nic Evolution Tyre - Snake Skin
26 x 2.25 up front
Continental Mountain King protection Tyre
26 x 2.2 for the rear

    Are they the ones that are soft in the middle and hard on the shoulders?

    I have one in the shed to use up front when it's proppa greasy and damp on the trails. Most excellent on wet roots and moist stones. Works well with a 2.25 Nic on the back, not too shabby in mud either ideal winter trail tyre.

    Quite like the 2.4 MK as well. Not as full-on Enduro as some 2.4 tyres but bigger and grippier than yer average 2.25.

    1239964168673-kejkijdm2qz3-399-75.jpg if its this one, yep. mud does tend to get stuck inbetween the centre knobs but once on the road they clean off quick.
    only got mavic xc717 disc rims they say they're limit is 2.3

    Yes that's it. Grey centre compound. Similar feel to a Nobby Nic only heavier and less expensive. I would keep the Intense on the front and throw a 2.25 Nic on the back. The Snakeskin Nic is well 'ard but IMO not really worth it unless you are in the habit of slashing sidewalls to bits.
