It’s pathetic isn’t it. It’s like a closed shop – as though no other sports can intrude. Some sports are extremely lucky the amount of coverage thet get – yes – tennis, golf – no Brit has won a ‘major’ for years, yet they still get press. The sporting media in this country are extremely insular – relying on the same tired old sports year in year out.
A British golfer won a major just three months ago. Which suggests it might not get massive press you say.
No, you're quite right - but that was the first for 10 years. All Road/ Gravel: tbcWinter: tbcMTB: tbcRoad: tbc"Look at the time...." "he's fallen like an old lady on a cruise ship..."0 -

I think the Ryder cup helps keep Golf's profile up too.0 -

All Golfs majors are covered on TV either Terrestrial or Sky and all reported by news channels most of the top European and American events are covered on TV , most get national newspaper coverage id say Golf was pretty well in there as far as coverage is concerned.Gasping - but somehow still alive !0 -

Problem with Cavendish is he's allowed to speak (not sure about thinking) before, after and possibly in between races which is a shame. At present, as long as he keeps winning it would be great if his results spoke for him. After listening to Cavendish in interviews and his ranting or churlish behaviour particularly to his fellow pro's I have on occassions thought it best he doesn't win.
I have similar feelings when some people type!
Cav has been far better since the early stages of the Tour, he seems to be maturing.0 -

What else can I say? He has a fabulous future ahead of him- although precisely what he has to do to capture the attention of the British media I know not.
Live in hope that one day they'll ban bluddy football.
Get himself on Strictly or Xfactor!! like wot proper Celebs do! :roll:0 -
While it would be nice if cycling got a bit more coverage the sad fact is that it gets the coverage the market merits. Football sells papers, cycling doesn't. I'd also venture to speculate that there are far more golfers than cycling enthusiasts out there (those that either race themselves or take an interest in cycling as a sport).Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

Bike Radar don't really cover pro racing, they have their sister site, Cycling News, to do that
:?:
There's been loads of pro-tour/continental news on bike radar either directly or with links, as you say, to Cycling News. But there's been nothing on Cav and when I click on the Road tab and then the Racing sub tab, there is no mention of Cav's success even though the content is provided by Cycling News. American TT, Road Race and Cross and next years ToB all all covered though :roll:0 -
