I am just curious; I fall into the smart trousers with trainers category when not at work.

And Addidas Gazelles cannot be lumped in the "trainer" group with Nikes , tis a crime you know :?

Actually yeah, this is how I am most of the time (actually came up in the father of the bride speach at my wedding infact) but then I would have to have added trainers & shorts and shoes and shorts etc.
  • Skate shoes and jeans/shorts, though if pushed and a night in a rubbish but popular club is on the cards it's shoes and jeans

It does depend on the type of trainers worn, the latest flash Nikes from JD Sports won't cut it. You could end up looking like a chav on his way to court. A nice pair of retro trainers like some adidas Gazelles would look ok.

  • Scruffy. Jeans and whatever old shoes are by the door. Uniform for work, though.

Most of the year, shorts, tshirt, skate shoes. If any of my friends want to go to a place which requires shoes as a condition of entry, I'll refuse.

When it's below freezing, I might put on a pair of jeans. Maybe. I'll also stick on a hoody occasionally.

Have you really never seen an old man wearing a suit, baseball cap & running shoes combo? Trainers with smart trousers is just plain wrong, especially if said trousers are afraid of your ankles.

Has to be good shoes with jeans. It's about making an effort with your appearance whereas wearing trousers & shoes would make you look like you should be at work.

I happen to think that a plain light pair of Maine golf trousers and my Airwalks looks like a good combo, I can't stand seeing jeans worn with anything but trainers :x but I think skate trainers can really work with smart trousers that aren't tight.

As a cycle commuter, the only shoes I own live under my desk at work so I couldn't wear them without making provisions to bring them back first anywho (This has only happened for my wedding so far)

I think I need to buy some more baggy jeans/cords though as I live in shorts and hence the only trousers i own are smart for work and such :?

unless its over 20 degrees i live in jeans.
i cant imagine wearing "smart" pants anytime other than work. apart from anything i hate manmade fibres (including bike wear!)

i think pants at home is a slippery slope to shirt, cardigan and shiney shoes at home.

skate shoes and jeans for me in casual circles, If I'm out on the town, shirt, suit jacket, skinny tie, slim jeans and pointy shoes or cons depending on situation

  • Shorts and skates shoes for me pretty much all the time (casual workplace).
Jeans and trainers some of time.
Jeans and boots (Timberlands - but not the Hip Hop type)
If I really need to be smart then shoes and smart trousers.
Never smart black shoes and jeans ( you look like a chav trying to get into a club)
Never trainers and smart trousers (you look like an employee of Curry's who is forced to where to trousers, but wears trainers to try and look 'cool' and 'stick it to the man')

    two points here.
When i lived in cornwall i was dressing up if i put any kind of shoes or strides on.

Up here in Essex, You aint getting in anywhere pub or club on a saturday night without a proper set of shoes and a shirt (some even ban denim) i was once turned away from my own birthday bash in a club once because my shirt didnt have buttons (it was a Zip, it was fashion at the time) and at the same club for a pair of shoes that didnt meet there criteria

Correct, always tan or brown shoes with jeans, unless they are grey jeans then only black shoes or boots with that but never blue jeans and black shoes, ever. And my belt always has to match my shoes

I am very OCD with colours as well as brands by the way,

I thought that was a given anyway, my bra and knickers always have to match too, if I'm wearing any

Really struggling to visualise this ensemble :? :)
  • given I have to wear shirt (white double cuff only with cuff links, not bars or knots), tie (single colour plain silk only with bar, never a pin or clip) and full suit (single breasted one or two button, in superfine never man made fibres) for work at home I generally assume the appearence of a tramp. I live in whatever Mambo Tshirt i grab first on a Monday evening, only taking out a different one on Saturday morning. This is usually with jeans, cords or shorts, along with either a pair of converse or berghaus depending upon the level of wetness outside. And as a golden rule I never shave whilst on holiday or at weekends.
Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
