Velocity versus Element (Ridgeback)

Hi,

In the past I've had a Ridgeback Velocity but the frame got damaged, and now I'm thinking of upgrading to an Element.

I did go on one short test ride, and I found the Element a lot 'liveliier' - but there seemed to be a discernible difference between the 32c and 37c wheels - it felt bumpier, and I'm uncertain whether it's the better option for Edinburgh's cobbles, potholes, disintegrating road, etc!

The Velocity always gets good reviews, but on paper the Element should be better.

Maybe I'm just on the sturdy end of the speed / stability spectrum, but maybe I'd just need to get used to the Element, and after a while I'd welcome the increased rapidity. Or maybe there's really not much in it!

I like to use my bike for tootling around time, about 3 - 4 miles at a time, then longer rides at weekends, say 120 mile trips over 2 days.

Views welcome - though maybe I'm just dithering!
