I'm 14 and have just bought a Pinarello Paris FP frame off of ebay for £680 (bargain IMO)

I'm in the process of kitting it out with ultegra 6700, selle italia, slr gel flow team edition saddle etc but I'm stuck on which wheels to choose. I've got a pair of Mavic Ksyrium SL premiums for the hilly races but being a 14 year old I need some flash wheels for the not so lumpy stuff.

The specifications would be:
New or used (but in good condition)
Clincher
Nothing more than 1800 Grams for the pair
Under £700 (pair)

Both the Bontrager Aeolus ACC's and the Mavic Cosmic SL's fit into those categories.

Has anyone had any experience of either of these wheels or is there anything else for a similar price that you would recommend?

Thanks
Ryan

  • Rent Boy?
  • do you race? if yes, look at getting some handbuilt 50mm gigantex tubs on something like royce from wheelsmith (google him)

if not.. just get out and ride... you don't need "flashy wheels". Spend yer money on good riding clothes, winter training equipment.. and a fucking holiday to go riding in warmer climates during the winter.

14 year olds these days....when i was 14, I was putting aside loose change to try and buy a lego set!

Sorry, I'm no help on your actual question.
  • I do race. Against the seniors at the Welwyn Track league and on a national level in the UK. All the money I have raised myself from car washing to work for my dads business to prize money (picked up £180 from track league alone). I've also done some good old buying and selling for profit on ebay items.

So yeh I'm looking for race wheels.

I'm about to buy a set of Mavic Cosmic Carbones. You may find this thread useful:

  • Cheers mate. I'm going to be using them for flat TT's and Flat circuit racing which is short and fast so they look like they could be ideal
