So due to the purchase of a new summer bike I've relegated the Allez to winter bike,
Kitted her out with crud roadracer mk2 (great guards!!) and she looks manky! Must wash her soon lol

Got bored so took some B&W shots of it (still manky too )
Not the best as taken off iPhone and unedited lol0 -
Are you still running the original tyres?
If so, then it's a good thing that you've got some spare tubes.
That said, I am the very happy owner of a 2009 Allez. Seriously good bike for the money, once I'd changed the tyres and pedals.0 -
Tyres seem fine so far I have a set of Mondo pro that I got for free so will try them out later if need be though never heard of them myself think they came off a Tarmac0
-
I got myself an Allez Elite over the summer as my first proper roady. Cracking bike, so quick compared to my MTB and suprisingly comfy- did my first 100km recently and it was brilliant. Need to get myself some mudgaurds for the winter crud mind!0

Been nearly 2 years since I updated this lol
Only original parts left on it are the bars!
Now runs full ultrgra 6700 gruppo
Roval rapide sl 35 wheelset
Cube stem
Cube saddle
Carbon seatpost
Blue tape
Still a wet weather training bike, When the venge isn't allowed out0 -
i normaly ride MTB but thinking of a road bike but nothing to expensive asit would be used for comuting back and to work and trainingtro keep my fittness up for when i hit the ruff stuff on my mountain bike so you recomend the Allez then . how light is itfalling off doesn't hurt....its the landing that hurts

Only bike I've not sold and it's the cheapest lol
I'd cry if it went to be honest...it's been brilliant
It's a fair bit lighter now that standard of course, almost as light as my venge which is 17lb reportedly...0 -
i just checked out your venge that looks a tasty bike.been checking out second hand prices on the allez just within my budget for a road bike . got the bug for road bikewhile doinga 100mile road ride from scunnthorpe to kings lynn got about half way on my mountain bike and was struggling to keep up with the rest.so i borrowed a trek madone which belonged to driver in the support van .whata diffrence it madefalling off doesn't hurt....its the landing that hurts

Defo wouldn't fancy it on a mtb!!
it was hard going at the start from Scunny to Lincoln as its hilly as hell but i soon made some time back on the flats of Norfolk on a road bike even one that was to big for me im 5' 10" the driver is 6' 5"falling off doesn't hurt....its the landing that hurts

My 2011 Standard Allez weighed in at just over 10kg with SPDs, bottle cage & lights.
Like the OP - very happy with it - changed the tyres after 1k miles (3 punctures 3 rides in a row) , new chain & cassette after 2k miles and just upgraded the wheels as the freehub was grumbling and got a decent price on new wheelset.
The next upgrade will cost more than the bike is worth as it'll be complete new groupset - so may be cheaper to buy a new bike!
Best moment must be when the group told me to slow down going up a "hill" ... so I don't think its the bike holding me back ...0 -
a better pic of how it stands, been having a bit lower back pain and weirdly since slamming the stem it feels lots better!
not a bad winter hack/training bike i dont think0 -
Winter bike? If I had one it would be my absolute best summer bike!
Although not half as nice as your Venge (which is my favorite bike on here), it still looks good!
Road - Dolan Preffisio
MTB - On-One Inbred
I have no idea what's going on here.0 -
Thanks very much lovely comment0

Lovely bike, my 2011 Allez has been relegated to my winter/foul weather ride now but in many ways I love it more than my carbon roadie, really should get some pics up actually!0
-
very nice! I like it! bet ultegra is nice on it, im turning mine into 105 slowly but surely, in fact I must get round to posting my bike in here but I need to study the ocp thread a bit more first! Ive been thinking recently about another bike but its funny reading on this thread how much people seem to like them!0
-
seen as i upgraded the venges bars, i stuck its stem onto the allez....

decided to upgrade the bars to Easton EC70 Aero carbon ones, and changed the tape to red Deda while i was at it..
off with the old
on with the new
never attempted road bars, shifters and tapes before so it was a new one for me, bit fiddly but not too bad....took an hour all in.
not too bad i dont think lol0 -
Hi,
I am so glad I found the photos of your nice bike on the net ! I am really interested in buying a Roval Rapide Sl 35 wheelset, but there is hardly any info available about their ride quality, durability etc. Could you tell me please how they feel, how sturdy they are ? Are they stiff enough, do they corner reliably on downhill turns ? Are the bearings smooth, long lasting or did you have any trouble with them ? DId you have any spoke failure ? Is the braking good on its rims ?
Any pieces of info would be really appreciated.
Cheers,
Gabor
