Is this leak a concern?

Just bought a second hand bike off Ebay, and there is evidence of a slight leak in the area of the picture below. I have issues with the way the bike had been packed (sold by a shop), and I have checked the bike today to see if there is any damage. I have emailed the shop about the lack of adequate packing, and I haven't rode the bike yet because it only came yesterday and today is the fiirst chance I've had to have a look at it.

Like I say, I'm unhappy with the way is was shipped, and even though it's an ex-demo bike and has some cosmetic scratches etc., I would still expect to see a little care taken. There is also a small issue of a couple of items missing that were mentioned as included in the auction, as well as the brake pads being non-existant.

Anyway, would a small leak here be a concern, if I do decide to keep the bike?

I have a set of Reba forks that leak in exactly the same place. I rebuilt the forks with all new seals and guess what the fecking thing still leaks. Remember a little oil goes a loooooooong way, it doesnt seem to affect the fork and I now just ignore it and have been doing for 3 years with no problems.

However saying that I wouldnt accept it on a bike I bought from a shop unless the leak was mentioned in the sale blurb. Time to get on the phone in my opinion.

  • +1, my Rebas leak when upside down, even after new o-rings. As stubs says a tiny drop of oil looks a hell of a lot when it's spread out.
