I'm going to miss that guy - the biggest-hearted cricketer of his generation has just announced his retirement. I'll never forget the moment the Ashes had been won in 2005 and the England team was dancing around celebrating, when Freddie went to console the defeated Brett Lee who was almost down on his knees. Flintoff played his heart out and he recognised that Brett Lee had also done the same. It was a moment of immense sportsmanship.

Went yesterday. Proper bowler, had wheels and made the ball talk. As a Lords regular I shall miss him steaming in for England.0

Spent a whole day with him a few years back, our friends had a box at Chepstow races and invited a trainer they knew to come up. She explained she had an owner with her and got told to bring him up too. Turned out to be Freddy. He really is as he appears, he never tired or moaned about signing autographs for the kids who'd found out he was there and hassled hime everytime he went out for a bet. He also sank a fair bit of the booze and must have cost our friends a fair bit lol. We've seen him there most years since and he always acknowledges us and has a chat with our friends which is pretty impressive when you think how many people he must meet each year. Great player and entertainer and one of those few superstars who really are down to earth.0
