Swinley back to Bordon
I'm trying to put together a route from Swinley back to Bordon in Hampshire utilising as much off road as I can.
The only tools I have is google earth and an OS map. As its pretty much due South the whole way I wouldnt mind any input from people who've ridden the sections I'll be crossing. The proposed route is;
Start at Lookout car park, head south towards the Post and Windsor ride towards Sandhurst Acadamy.
Cross the A30 and onto Hawley Common (passing left of Hawley Lake)
A bit of minor road riding through Cove and then off road through Pyestock (left of DERA)
Head through Eelmoor driving training area.
Cross Bourley Road and onto Tweseldown (keeping left of the reservoirs) come out by the water tower at the top of Castle Street.
Follow Old Park Lane down into Farnham.
After that I'm fine with Alice Holt, Broxhead Common etc as I know it fairly well.
Alot of it is through 'Managed Access MOD land' so not sure what the going is like.

I did this on Saturday. Ended up as 37 miles, 25 of which were off-road.
I only got lost twice - both in dedicated MTBing areas, Swinley and Alice Holt! With a bit of tweaking I can shave this down to 30 miles.
It opened my eyes to some excellent areas that aren't popular on the MTB list and were fairly deserted. Hawley Common, Pyestock and Tweseldown all had miles of decent tracks and I'll get round to exploring them properly in the near future.
The condition of the tracks were really good throughout. I was expecting to get bogged down in heavy sand over Eelmoor and Tweseldown as looking at Google Earth they looked really sandy.
Having a GPS would've helped me. I'd like to eventually extend this to be a Swinley - QECP ride of about 40 miles. Also like to up the off road usage as it was only 67%.1999 Scott Vail - Work commute

You maybe interested in this http://www.nhampshirectc.org.uk/archive ... s-way1.pdf if you plan on extending down to QEP.0

Thanks for that. I'd heard whispers of this proposed route from Alice Holt to QECP but not really looked into it.1999 Scott Vail - Work commute
