I would appreciate some feedback here. What do you consider to be the biggest improvement/ new feature over the 3G? & In terms of current deals, the one offered by Tesco's looks hard to beat, closely followed by 3, or am I missing something?

The speed over my 3g was amazing, the apps are so much smoother and you can even notice the difference when swiping across the home screen0

I'd heard that loads of people were 'downgrading' the software to 3G on their 4G iPhones... :?
I'm due to replace my BB soon and dunno whether to go BB, HTC or iPhone...0 -
Screen - very impressive.
Ability to multi-task - so much better than the 3GS
I still 'only'' have 3GS, but was impressed with friends iPhone 4.
I do think the shape of the 4 makes it looks a bit less unique and more of a generic smartphone. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Also not sure if battery life is any better on 4 than 3 (which is poor). Anyone happen to know?0 -
Well i think my battery is pretty much the same as my old 3g
i use it for about 90 minutes a day playing music about about 40 playing games and and the calls/texts/net i also run the brightness on 100% and come bedtime its at about 40%.0 -

I don't think that's even possible. You may be confused with the people with 3Gs who have tried OS4, found it slowed their (old) phone down too much and have gone back?
Only played with a 3g, but own a 4 and the screen is definitely the stand out feature, the OS seems slicker/faster as well.Multi-tasking is a bit hit and miss at the moment, as it's app specific. Battery is OK, like any current smartphone you will likely have to charge at the end of every day, unless you turn 3g off and don't play too many games, you could probably stretch to two days in which case. And personally I'd Jailbreak it as well, you gain alot more access to the inner bits and bobs.0 -
battery life is pants, i see a relation there to how many apps you keep open (if you just return to the home screen they stay on!) its on charge every 2 days
screen is awesome clear though, much sharper than old models and htc's
very quick and smooth to operate. faster than the old models whether they are running upgraded ios or not
camera is decent, latest hdr feature is good. and flash/torch who wouldnt want it?
face time is goodCrafted in Italy apparantly0 -
u can use back up software to revert back to old back ups (images)
why you'd want to i dunno. i wont be forsureCrafted in Italy apparantly0 -

One of the reasons I'm keeping mine on OS4.01 and JBroken for now, can kill apps instead of letting the OS decide to keep them open. Often not an issue but a right pain if say, Tom Tom is open and sucking your battery dry.0 -

Yes. I'm easily confused when it comes to gadjits.0 -
Well I been working decorating a house for a fortnight with my cousin, he has a 3GS, i have an iPhone 4. We pretty much use them all day long for music, internet and anything that's a distraction, the signal on the 4 seems slightly better than his and the battery lasts longer, not really played around that much on his so can't comment on how much of an improvement the new software.0

Something else to ponder on.
I have a 3GS and I have stuck with the old OS. Why?
Others in the office around me instantly "upgraded" their software only to find that they can't get the log in script to log onto the company wifi. I am not upgrading until they can.
Note that they are okay at home with their own wifi but at our company you cannot automatically log on. A screen pops up every time you try to enter the network and you have to re-enter a username and password. They do not get the pop up, therefore no wifi.
Anyone else have this problemand found a solution?None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
i find the battery on 4 better, also much better camera.
i have to say i find the net when using 3g slightly slower but its not enough to bother me...
the screen is lovely and noticably better then pld one, but until i had the 4 i never thought the screen was crap on the old one..0 -

To OP re deals - the Tesco deal is the best but they're always out of stock. The 3 deal is the next best.
Instead of going to 3 website direct go through a cashback website like Topcashback or Quidco and go to 3 via them. You get cashback to you, you don't have to apply for it. You have to register with the site but that's free. Then make sure you do all your online shopping via them. It's a bonus though - I've had a couple of tracking failures, but it doesn't happen often.
I don't work for them, I just use them when I remember.0 -
Thaks for the feedback folks. Just got one from the local Tesco, which had 1 x 16Gb and 4 x 32Gb left.0

This reads like a what bike thread, "mine is the best therefore you should get that" . However, I can recommended the Desire, cracking phone. If I had to complain about it I would mention that its hard to see the screen if you have bright sunlight directly on it. So its perfectly fine for use in Britain pretty much all year round. Oh and Voda havent texted me to tell me that I can download Android 2.2 yet. But I can get it from the HTC site apparently.0
