Turbo trainer

I am considering buying a turbo trainer for my wife so she can get a bit of cardio fitness back after recovering from a back operation.
She only has a cheap Carrera hybrid bike (26" wheels). I have seen this

Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
Is it suitable for her bike?
Is it necessary to use toe clips/straps or can you get away without?
Cheers

I've got the wireless version of this (has power speed distance display) and its excellent.I've nothing to compare it to but have used it indoors in the past no problem. Now I use it in the garage. Friends complain theirs (Tacx Sartori I think) are too noisy indoors but we've not made a direct comparison.
It should take any width of tyre.
An advantage is you can use it as a workstand if needed (you can set it to lift the rear wheel free of the runner so good for minor gear adjustments etc)
You don't need to use toe clips, nor do you need an expensive block. Its sercure enough a block of wood for under the front wheel would suffice (even up off the saddle its pretty stable).0
