I need a new freehub for my 8 year old Campag Centaur/Open Pro real wheel. I was going to get one and then put the wheel on my winter bike, but they want £50 just for the freehub. I'm now starting to think that it might be better just to get a brand new rear wheel.

I have seen a new Mavic Aksium for £95 including postage.

Anyone seen any killer deals out there for a just a rear wheel?

Just been mentioning this to Mrs Hugo15....................... It's difficult to know where to draw the line. I could spend £50 getting a new freehub but before I know it I've spent £135 on a full new set off wheels.

Im after a set of Aksiums to save my fulcrum 3's. Ive seen used sets go on ebay for nearly £100 in the past . My LBS wants around £180 but im sure he would do a deal of some sort and I would be happy to pay a bit extra for the service and backup plus hes a nicde guy. I get carried away too so your not on your own :P
  • You can get a set of Campag Khamsins for under £100:

They're heavy (like Aksiums in fact) but decent, nice looking wheels. Buying a set is always going to be better value than buying a single wheel.

    What's wrong with the freehub?

If it's just the pawls or the spring these can be replaced for a couple of quid
