I own a 2008 Fuji Reveal 2.0. It is fitted with a Rock Shox Recon fork and I want to upgrade to a RS Revelation.
My wheelset is a Shimano XT Tubeless Disc centerlock (WH-M775) which has XT hubs with 9mm quick releases. I want to upgrade to the Maxle Lite configuration available for the RS Revelation.
Should I also upgrade the wheelset or can I just change the hubs?

If only a hub change is needed, what should I be aware of in terms of compatibility?

  • Ok thank you

The XT wheelset has a 24 hole hub with a 100mm axle.
The Shimano XT hubs come in either a 32 hole or 36 hole configuration with a 110mm axle.
Is the 32 hole hub compatible with the wheelset?

The rim will only be drilled for 24 spokes so only a 24 spoke hub will fit.

A rebuild using a new hub usually costs about the same as a new wheel so I'd go with this option and sell the old one.

If you like the wheels you could go for M776 front wheel which is almost the same but with a 20mm axle. Or a totally different wheel.. choice is yours....
