I'm sure there is a name for this but I don't know what it is......

Overdid it over the weekend and now I feel really tight at the back of a knee. The very top of my calf is a bit sore....if I straighten my leg and curl up my toes it feels really tight.

Any ideas how to sort this, please? Really need to be sorted for the weekend.

Many thanks.

  • generic diagnosis, going off what I do, probably pulled something.

streches will help, if you don't know how to strech, go find a physio or a gym and get them to show you. generaly you want to move the knee through the range of motion it has.

should be able to find stuff on the internet after a google search.
  • Had a similair problem a little while back, found it was due to a tight hamstring.

Do lots of hamstring, hip flexor, buttock and quad stretches now and havent had problem since :D
  • Thanks for that, I'll give it a go.

  • Be careful with the stretching, it is beneficial in most cases but if the muscle is partially torn stretching will cause further tearing, making it worse.

Best thing to combat this happening again is to stretch before and after the ride thoroughly. I used to have problems like this and when i started stretching regularly they went away. A stretch halfway through the ride is also beneficial.
  • Thanks for that.

All of the above and a good sports massage; they work wonders.
    Many happy trails!
