Two silly basic questions!

I am bit embarrassed to ask but here I go:
Just bought first road bike and all kit. Planning to do a couple of rides next weekend.
1) Have never worn cycle shorts before (I have been missing out), do you put your boxers on underneath or not?
2) Do people usually put their pump in a jersey pocket or attach it to downtube? Imagine is personal preference.
Cheers!

Nothing underneath cycle shorts. My pump is on my downtube but some are mad enough to carry theirs in jersey pockets.0

is endura cycling briefs under cycling lycra, the extra padding helps IMO on our shite roads.
Pump in bum bag for me as it is a micro job.
If you have good tyres then chances are you'll never need it.0 -

Oh this is so liberating
Commando and seat tube for me as I prefer a bottle on the downtube and the pump fittings wouldn't allow a cage and a pump in the same slot.If you buy it, they will come...
...up to you and say, you didn't want to buy one of them!!!0 -

If you use stand offs and longer bolts you might get away with it.

Mini pumps usually have mounts that allow both bottle and pump on the same fitting.
That said, the downtube mounted pump will get sprayed mercilessly with the winter crap so that when you do eventually need it, it won't work
Certainly wouldn't consider that mounting position unless you are using full mudguards which may make a difference. I put the pump in my jersey pocket.Faster than a tent.......0 -
and the chamois goes on the inside NOT on the outside as my mate decided to wear!!
oh how we laughed!'dont forget lads, one evertonian is worth twenty kopites'0 -
Put as least as possible on the bike. Then it impresses people more when they 'weigh' it in their hands.0

 right... be taking my pump off the downtube tonight then....
i am slightly worried about first puncture on the road but fingers crossed does not happen for a while!0 -
Commando and Topeak Road Morph on the seat tube, bottle on downtube. Both remain spotless due to full mudguards.
I'm not worried about the weight; nobody else is allowed to touch my bike!0
