Been lurking for ages on here so i thought i better make a contribution, heres a photo of my method of getting 3 of us around,

P1010019-1.jpg

Specialized hard rock pro (served its purpose well round trail centres but now kids taxi!)
Wee ride kids seat on the front
Trek mountain trail tag along

Liitle lad aged 3 1/2 on the wee ride (last few rides now he`s getting too big) and one of my daughters aged 6 or 10 on the tag along, certainly gets my fitness levels up ready for playing on the trails when i escape on my own!!

Mainly canal ride outs but have started with local bridleways and trails just have to plan around the big climbs.

Hope this is some use to anyone in the same position.

Pah, you need a child-back tandem towing a double trailer (so 3 passengers), or a MTB with baby bikeseat towing a trailer (I have gone to beach that way), or 3 kids on a trike bench seat for the school run (have seen that locally, too). Then you'll really feel like a taxi service on bikes.

I am not organised enough to produce a picture, though!

    Nice rig.

How's the spray off your rear wheel? Does the down-tube guard help much?

  • I am looking into getting a Yuba Mundo - it can carry two kids seats on the back - anyone tried one - or got an alternative on the tag along?
Bring back the original C4 Tour theme tune !

Used to use a trailer as well as tag along but as eldest has got older she rides on her own now so i got the wee ride so little lad feels more involved up front.

Quite a struggle through gates sometimes!!

Sprays pretty bad to be honest, keep meaning to sort some sort of mudguard but never get round to it plus kids seem to enjoy a bit of mud so not too bothered.

Down tube guard doesnt seem to do much, really needs to be stopped coming off my back wheel.

Yeah... I went a full-length guard for that reason. They came in a pair, so I mounted the front one too. (Although - my bike is slightly different to yours) ;) See 80's ugly link in sig.

nice setup, agree about having the smaller child up front, but at 3 and a half i doubt he'll be there much longer

On spray, I fitted a large Crud brand guard to the tag-along tube which seems to have helped a lot. It attaches with two glorified rubber bands so it pretty much universal fitting.

I like your set-up. We've got 2x children and 2x tag-alongs at the moment. Arrival of #3 in April will mean #1 son doing a lot more self-propelled cycling on his 20 inch bike! (I have thought of some sort of articulated arrangement with a tag along and trailer but would no doubt manage to wipe out in some unfortunate way.)
