Saris Bones RS3 problem

Hi guys,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but i'm going to shoot anyway.
A while ago i bought a Saris Bones RS3 rack, have to admit that it's a great rack and i can't fault it. It dropped onto my VW Golf a treat, I was disappointed to find that the boot lid on my wifes car (VW Polo) was a bit too tight to be able to get the hooks over the top of the hatch. Not a problem though, we just used the Golf.
That was until some numb nut white van man (apologies to all considerate WVM out there) drove into the back of my Golf on the M25 a couple of weeks back, just took the roadies out from home while it was at the garage. Thing is it's come back now and the hatch is now just too tight to fit the rack. It's only a really marginal thing, i could just about force it in but obviously don't want to. Does anyone know of anything i can do/get to make the hooks fit into the tight hatchbacks?
I've seen Saris hatch huggers for glass boots but aren't sure if they'll fit on my RS3.
Cheers
