Cycling enthusiasts needed to break world record
Cycling enthusiasts are being given the chance to go down in history and raise money for The Christie by breaking the current world record for electricity generated within 24 hours by pedalling static bicycles.
The record currently stands at 12,953 kilowatt hours and organisers are looking for as many people as possible to take part to help smash this target.
The attempt is taking place at Manchester Velodrome, starting 5pm on Friday 1st October and will finish at 5pm the following day. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided and participation is free.
The attempt is being organised by the original fruit malt loaf company Soreen who will donate 50 pence to The Christie for every kilowatt hour of energy produced. It is hoped £10,000 will be raised for the leading cancer centre.
All participants will receive a goody bag and if the attempt is successful, record breakers will receive an official Guinness World Record certificate. The top three cyclists who generate the most amount of electricity will also win donated prizes which include a top-of-the-range bicycle worth £500. All record breakers will also be entered into a free prize draw to win a holiday for four people.

Top of the range bicycle worth 500 quid? Sounds low end more like.

I got a few Airport staff interested.
It's not Christie's you need to email, it's the organiser.
I'm going to email the press office tomorrow night...0 -

Yeah, found the email in my home spam folder from Soreen and noticed she'd replied to polic.uk a couple of days ago, hey ho - fingers crossed there'll still be slots left on Friday. I've sent mither to the 2 Christie names in the OP too. Hopefully I'll get to talk to someone tomorrow to block book - Soreen fancy the idea of a uniform shot, so be warned they may push for you to be there in the full kit - Mrs SBIB photos for Brief and will be down on Friday afternoon.0
