Not sure if folks have been following this story

Very serious and unpleasant. I've just read in Tuttobici that he is very unlikely to make it and the doctors are due to make a descision about switching off life support.

Awfully sad.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

  • Goodness. I saw they cancelled which was the right decision but didn't know it was that bad. I hope he is able to make it.

Thomas has been declared brain dead and his life support is being turned off.

His parents have given permission for his organs to be donated.

    Such a tragedy.

  • I have been following it. An awful crash.
It was initial reported as being a fatal accident, then it was revised.
Clearly his injuries were so bad that there was no hope.
Another tragedy for the sport. The third this month.

    Casarotto non ce l'ha fatta
    I suoi organi verranno donati.

Lo sfortunato dilettante di Schio era caduto venerdì durante il Giro del Friuli. Entrato subito in coma, le sue condizioni erano gravissime. Ora contribuirà a salvare altre vite.

    Roughly translated,
    Casarotto has not made it.
    His organs will be donated.

The ill-fated amateur from Schio fell on Friday during the Giro del Friuli. He quickly entered a coma and his condition was very serious. Now he will contribute to save another life.

    Rest in Peace Thomas.

    Sad, going out so young.

Thankfully this kind of accident is relatively rare despite the speed of races and the number of miles covered a year.

Not rare enough it would seem.

Very sad to hear that such a young life is cut short. Thoughts are with his family and friends.
