Just finished building this up today, after various bits of bike jewellery have been arriving at my house all week.

Pedals due next week, plus carbon seatpost. I just couldn't resist trying it out straight away.

    Love it!

I'd love a Principia alu frame but they are sooo expensive new and like hen's teeth used.
  • thats nice. Im not sure about the colour of the headset spacers but other than that I love it.
  • Very rarely see one, except when I open the garage.. :D

I have an RSL, with a Time Stiletto carbon fork, beautiful bike to ride too.

There's a few left over at CRC here:

Very nice, still look classy Principia.

I've budgeted £400 for a frame to build as a project over winter and this may just push me towards the Prinicipia in my size left on ebay (£350) rather than the HED R1c carbon that's at the top of my budget.

There's no contest there mate! Principia!
  • Galatzo. At £350 that Principia frame is a bargain, especially as it includes the Principia headset.

Here is a link to an old review of that very frame to help you decide

Hard to say. The REX you've posted does come with the original Issac fork which got very good reviews at the time. It has a tapered steerer 1.25 - 1.125, so theoretically stiffer than a 'normal' fork. Difficult to find replacements though which means if you wanted to change the fork you would need a new headset.

The ebay model comes with a Mizuno fork which has a 1.125 steerer and the headset will have a reducer fitted, gives you more options if you want to change.

I don't think there is any noticeable difference in strength and weight. I'd go for the Team Issue (ebay model) but I note they are both different sizes. You have to get the one that fits.

    Also worth noting

The cable-routing through the Ellipse head tube is not possible for technical reasons on sizes below 53 cm

    Lovely.

I have had an RS6 frame since 2003 and I still love it. I would never get rid of it. As Napolean D says, they can be pretty rare used.

My Principia is now relegated to winter use, but if ever there was a frame that could stand up to winter use/abuse, it is an anodized Principia!
