  • I'm looking for a decent bike computer to use for my commute and when i, hopefully, join a club. Not sure if i can stretch to £70 though. Might have to trawl ebay for one if you reckon they're good though.
  • i was lookin on ebay at these yesterday on ebay and i saw a few for around £50 with P&P which is a steal if u ask me!

I've had this one for nearly a year now. The cadence magnet has to be very close to the sensor and seems to always get knocked out of place after a few bumps. Everything else works great though.

I bought one of the new Boardman units

Initially I was annoyed because I couldn't use polarised glasses with it but have lived with the computer and it has proved to be excellent.

It was the only unit I could find that does 2 bikes (if you buy a second fitting kit), all the normal speed stuff, cadence and does vertical climb.

It has two separate sensors and the signal has proved faultless.

I just looked at the website and you get a £10 voucher if you spend 1p more, so effectively £40. The Cat Eye would have been my second choice.

    Recommended.

I have one and it's great. My only complaint as mentioned by PeteMadoc is that the cadence sensor always twists round on the chainstay and doesn't register. You have to make sure it's lined up before every ride. I might stick something under the wheel sensor to try to stop it twisting round.

I had one and thought it was crap.

The device kept resetting itself mid ride - any sort of pothole , bump was registering a reset click. Sent it back to wiggle and got my money back. If google you will see this is a common problem with this computer

?????????????? Are you sure you fitted the rubber mount under the cadence unit before you tightened the cable ties, mine has not moved a mm and I have done over 300 miles since I bought it, and the sensor on the crank arm is as secure.

Yeah, it was fine for a while but after a few hundred miles it seemed to loosen a bit. Then it needed resetting every time I set off and after a big bump or two it needs moving again at which point I just forget about my cadence reading.
  • I've got some self-amalgamating rubber tape which I used inside the crank magnet - it's really useful stuff and did the trick.

The main annoyance for me was that it only showed instantaneous cadence and not average. And putting cadence on the screen stopped me from seeing the distance.

I've just ordered a Topeak Panoram V10C - looks like it can show distance, speed, time and cadence at the same time - REVOLUTIONARY! :-)

The other major annoyance with the cateye double wireless was that it went to sleep and I had to remember to press the button to wake it up before I rode it.

The Boardy shows altitude, cadence, speed and distance. The distance can be swapped for time and all the averages. Cadence can be swapped for temperature.
