I am wondering if road wheels can be put on this F&F? I have the clearance I believe for it and it is spaced for 8-speed.

You'll need to consider whether the brakes, be they cantilever or V-type, are mounted, and whether they can be adjusted enough to cope with the road rim.

if its 26 inch mtb wheels 700c wont fit, thevre bigger diameter. also your rear dropout will be 135mm whereas road bikes are 130mm.

The droput could be 'cold set' to fit and a framebuilder could remount the brake bosses on the forks.

Mtb wheels with big fat tyres have almost the same circumference as road wheels with 23mm tyres.

Brakes will be the issue. I fitted 700c wheels to an old steel mtb frame by drilling out the brake bridge to take a caliper brake. It was pretty marginal as to whether there was enough metal left in the bridge, but it was the rear brake on a fixed that didn't get used much anyway. Easy enough to swap the fork for a road fork.
    More problems but still living....

You could always use the 26" wheel with a slick and narrow tyre.
  • My forks and frame has drillings from F&R calipers, so I hope it would work, the worse case is I would have to have longs instead of short.

700c wheels and some of these.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Oh brilliant thank you so much! You see I am riding on Mavic X221's (same Wheels for 8yrs and no problems), and not until I came or moved to Lansing, MI (the worst roads ever) did I hit a road crater(no joke) that almost broke the rim. I stand by these rims but I need to gain a few mph and you can't get those rims as easily as in the past(without taking a loan).

Thank you everyone for your help!
