  • Good to see pics of a bike that is actually ridden, not built up and the only excitement it gets is being paraded round on the internet.

    CCDB - awesome shock.

    What pedals are you using?

  • The cane creek makes a very big difference to the ride. It does take a while to set it up properly but well worth the effort. Going up hill it does slightly bob more than a fox but the added benefit you get when you decend is superb. Over rocky terrain it just glides over everything . the bike feels like a mini 224 on the trails. I think the ccdb is very well suited to a single pivot / swingarm like the five.

The pedals are off a mates morewood team dh bike. Im not to sure of the make as they were worn when I got them. They are massive and very light + low profile.

And yep - got this bike soley to thrash - not to w**k over in my living room like so many of the bikes on here!
  • Proper bike! Where did you manage to get hold of a Strange from? Any ides what the prototype features are? I know some had thinner metal, some had longer top tubes, but I'm not sure what else.
  • Very nice bike. Interested to find out how you came about buying the strange. If only Orange offered this frame as a off the shelf version i would be very interested in one. A 18" would be right top tube length but not give me the standover height i want where as a 16" has too short a top tube.
  • Found the strage online- it was one of only a couple that went for sale to the public. I had to pay over the odds for it but I think it is worth it. The frame is very simular to the 2011 am frame, oscg mounts, wider seat tube, tapered head and cable guides for seat post. The main difference as mentioned by rick is the frame sizing. It has a 18" frame top tube on a 16" frame seat tube making it long and low to ride.I had previously ridden a xcel patriot size 16", found it a bit cramped to climb on but decended superbly so this five frame should be perfect. Not sure why they didnt produce this one in 2011 - maybe because it rides better than an alpine! .
  • Very cool looking bike. Any good DH trails near oxford?
