Lou Reed has refused Susan Boyle the right to perform one of his songs on American Has Talent.

Now if John Cale could just shag Simon Cowell's girlfriend all would be good in the world.

Does Susan Boyle represent modern music ?
I think he's being a bit precious. It's only a song - she might do a decent version - he can hardly say she has no talent.
it's a hard life if you don't weaken.0 -

I was talking more about glorified karaoke shows than Susan Boyle. I've got nothing against her.
Lou Reed's always taken a stand against the dumbing down of music, so I can understand why he would do this - I'm sure that many people would call him a hypocrite if he let her do it.0 -
From an artist who produced 'Metal Machine Music' it's a bit rich but perhaps he could licence thatM.Rushton0

I presume he had no issue with trousering his portion of the royalties when Duran Duran covered Perfect Day.'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0

I think Lou Reed just lets anyone cover that for fun.
Childrens charity version of a song about shooting a load of smack and wandering around Berlin? Hilarious!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

No, some artists do covers and add their own touch to it. I'm talking about reality TV here, not Susan Boyle or any other contestants as people.
Susan Boyle and her ilk have just seen their opportunity and seized it.
Simon Cowell on the other hand, is Satan's representative on Earth, and a McDonalds meal in human form - consumed by many, loved by few.
Lou Reed is more like a great little inn tucked away in the French countryside. Not many people eat there, but those who do will try to tell all their friends about it.0 -

Well, I'm here singing it at the top of my voice, and I don't care what the consequences are!!
"It's just a Perfect Day...la la la la la la ......""There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0 -

Except Susan Boyle, of course.0 -
the first comment in the link suggests that uncle Lou didn't actually stop her from using it
he always comes across a bit of an rsole though
actually, when he puts on that stupid singing voice, he sounds like a bad karaoke turn himself
having said that, Sweet Jane, off Loaded, would always be in my top 3 favourite tunes of all time0 -
Oh Sweet Nuthin', she ain't got nuthin' at all............0
