Hi, has anyone trevelled from Glasgow to Kirroughtree? How long does it take? Multimap says 2hrs 41m going the M77/ A77 but I'm quite near the M74. Anyone tried it that way? Thanks

  • you could cut off from the 74 over the Dalveen Pass onto the 76 and then into Thornhill, Balmaclelan and New Galloway

The route I was thinking about would take 2hr.47

74 to Moffat and then Dumfries and then 75 is 2hr. 10. (1hr from Dumfries)

All depends on which end of Glasgow really.

Fellow rider, Craig over on stw comes down to Dumfries every other week from the Glasgow area
  • Thats about right 2hr 40mins i do it quite often

I park at Talnotry,Auchinleck last time and it took under 2 hours. Tried to attach a link but it didn't work.Just put Talnotry in Google maps. It's on the A712 Queens Highway which is part way round the black route at the bottom of Heartbreak Hill. M77,A77,A713,A712.This saves a bit of driving time but I prefer it as you get all best red and black bits(descents) before you get too tired to really enjoy them! :D Kirroughtree main car park/cafe /bike shop is then just over half way round the red/black route where you can stop for refreshments.
  • what nick says, forgot about that. We sometimes do that.
