Help on a first bike - Merida 903/Fuji Roubaix

I've never owned a proper bike before. I've done quite a lot of research - this site has been really helpful - and I've been to a few shops to try out a couple of bikes and get some advice.
I've just tried a Merida Road Race 903, and really liked it - seemed comfortable and felt good. I've been on a Fuji Roubaix 1.0 (10), which I didn't seem to get on as well with although it was slightly more expensive than the Merida. Also looked at the Trek 1.5.
Has anyone got any views on those three? I'm edging towards the Merida, but would really welcome any thoughts, as I haven't got much of a clue!

You'll struggle to buy a bad bike for that kind of money. If the Merida fitted well and felt good I'd suggest buying it.0
