They've got the shoes for a tenner, and the biggest bargain of all, a tool kit with just about everything you'll ever need (unless you ride vintage bikes and need to remove cotters and freewheels) for £20 (£44 elsewhere on the net). Get down there.

Balls. I've just bought a toolkit from Halfords.
  • are these different at each store? i cant seem to find them on the website.
  • Shouldn't be. They're under "Great Outdoors", and you have to go through half a page of trekking gear to find the 5 or 6 bike bits. There are also pumps, smaller repair kits, a couple of other things.

SamWise1972, I reckon you making it up as I could only see the MEN's shoes in that half a page of great outdoors gear :(

    Where are you?
  • Southampton. My version doesn't gender the shoes, it just says "Cycling shoes", and in the store this morning, they had men's and ladies (marked on the box). I bought a pair. I'm also seeing track pumps, ladies cycling jackets, and various different toolkits.

And people say this forum is London-centric. Lidl clearly doesn't agree

According to the site none local to me. Still going to have a pop in though and see if they have anything left over from the last cycling load.

Do you have a link to the bike stuff?

For 'great outdoors' I just get one page of camping/walking stuff.

    But maybe it's different everywhere?
  • its different for each store/area. when i select my local store its just the camping/walking stuff, but if i select a store in Southampton there is cycling stuff as well as the camping/walking stuff all under the outdoors link

I was in on Saturday night and my local had no cycling stuff left.

This is a new offer, starting today. Worth another look.

  • Cheers for the info.

I just got a couple of pairs of their gel insoles which I hope will help my numb toe problem.

    Anyone else get numb toes?

I just had a quick look and there's none listed (in my area, that is) but Aldi's autumn offer should be coming up shortly.

Someone posted a 'heads up' for Aldi - due in 16/09 IIRC.

The one in Carron had socks, shoes, lights and inner tubes left.

So I got myself a pair of socks. Only 1.99 so not loosing anything if I don't like them.
  • I'll be keeping an eye on Aldi; had good stuff from there too, but they don't seem to let you know what the future holds in quite the same way!

Aldi have a chainsaw for sale from today. Tempting to carry around in the panniers in case of a close call.

Q: Driver cut me up, what should I have done?
    A: Chainsawed his wheels off...

    plus lots more.
Time for some cheap winter commute shopping methinks.

  • ZOMG! Merino shirts for £15!!! I'll be there in force....

Not seeing the overshoes though, which I would really like. Looks like they'll have road shoes for £15 at mine though.
  • Ok, found the overshoes, under the non-informational heading "cycling accessories". Reckon they're waterproof?

  • Couldn't see any cycling stuff for the Walworth store. :( I quite fancied the toolkit - it'll mean I double up on many of the tools but is probably still worth it for £20.
Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.
  • SamWise,
Thanks for the heads up, popped in yesterday and picked up a tool kit. Very timely and looks like exactly what I need - have just bought the cog and spacers for a singlespeed conversion.
