I'm thinking of organising a long weekend away riding towards the end of October and was wondering where people favorite places are. I've done Afan a few times as well as Cwmcarn and the Peaks many times and love them but where else are peoples favorites to stay and ride. Looking for more chanllenging riding, not Swinley or Follow the dog stuff

This would be a challenge to do in a weekend...

Although by challenging, I suspect you mean something slightly different.. :P0 -
gonna say, if you want challenging go back the peaks and there's enough there to make your eyes bleed without trying too hard. have you done / looked at the lakes?0

Bit too hard for a weekend but well worth considering as an epic...0 -
Kirroughtree, Mabie and Drumlanrig. OK it's a bigger drive but you'll be able to just casually say "When we were in scotland" to your mates We do a long weekend at KT a couple of times a year, it's a great place to ride and the other trails around it are almost as good. Except Ae, which would be exciting if it was in the midlands but not really worth a visit unless you DH as there's better trails within 20 miles in every direction, pretty muchUncompromising extremist0

There is but I have done a lot there. Most of the Hope trails and then a three week epic around the Dark Peaks in May.

Liking the sound of that downhill, I'll pack the pads and full face ;-)0 -
And I don't think I've done the Lakes. Got any pointers?0

I haven't i'm afraid, I've just ordered the Lake District Mountain Biking by Staton and Gore as a starter and then i was going to hit the routes forum and search function here, as i've seen loads of stuff posted in the past.0
