I see one persons mentioned The Ride Journal.

Probably a lot of other folk havent see it.
We're a bit different to most of the other magazines out there.

    If you go to www.theridejournal.com
you can download issues 1 and 2 for free and if you like what you see we're got issue 4 for sale still (its a whole lot nicer in printed form but as we're sold out of earlier issues you can at least read the first two).

    cheers

thanks for posting, that is exactly what I was after (like surfers path but for bikes)

love the Steve Peat article too.

So would I *rubs thighs in the style of Vic Reeves*

Maybe Merlin could start running those slightly sexist and risque adverts again.
  • Did anybody ever used to read Grip magazine?

Only had a limited run, think it must have been about 1998/1999 or so, but I loved it, thought it was a fantastic mag.

Seem to remember it was set up by the old editor of Dirt?
  • Just reading that IMB online magazine and it seems really good, especially considering that it's free!!

I have a subscription to MBUK but thinking of stopping that and just buying different mags that take my fancy

MBUK is the only one I'll buy without scanning through it first.

The others take themselves far too seriously and I think MBA is the ultimate cure for insomnia. Only the 'mericans could make MTBing seem dull & boring.

i agree with the MBUK thing, it's always been a decent mag, and it's worth it for Mint sauce ;-)

American mags are pretty rubbish, just a whole mag full of adverts with a few articles.

i like singletrack, it seems to be more about the actual riding and experience than the kit

I get the ride religeously as I know Dean (who I think does your artwork?)

It's brilliant, very inspiring and appeals across all genres.

    keep it up chap!

my wife bought me a subscription to MBR for a present - typically, she set it up during a month where they weren't offering any free gifts for subscribing!!!! It was quite good for a while but the last couple of issues have been pants.

Yeah i really like it too, its easy to share articles w/ friends, plus all my cheapskate mates can still read it too haha.

yeah i think i have one subscription to a favourite music mag - everything else is a disloyal mish mash of choices at the time..
  • I buy Dirt and generally browse the others in the shop - reason I buy dirt is because its written with a passion. The passion is often badly worded, misspelt or misprinted and repeated over and over (read issue 100 and the World Cup special and you find about 20 references to Sam Hill's Champery win 2 years ago, how flat pedals are the best despite their listing of the teams showing over half the riders on spds, and how Rachel A was out fot he whole of last season)

I find MBR reviews a good number of bikes but I dislike their reviews, MBUK I actually generally enjoy and the reviews are WMB lite - more aimed at the fun of the bike than the detail, WMB reviews lots of stuff as well as bikes which can be handy if I ever had any money to buy new stuff with. Which I dont.

    +1 for that.

And it's free, and far less one big advert dressed up as reviews and "articles" as many are. Plus you get video articles/tutorials/trail guides, downloadable gpx, etc.
