Could do with a couple of £100.00 back though Mr Taxman if you're feeling generous /beg/The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

I got a tax rebate yesterday...
from the DVLA, £15.83 for returning a tax disc with one month left on it. Better than nothing I suppose.0 -
I got a snotty letter last year from an HMRC "Compliance" unit in York. They wanted me to repay a grand with 7 days notice.
I asked them if this might be related to the completely unexpected £1000 rebate they'd given me the year before despite my protestation at the time.
Turns out one of their minions had neglected to enter my company car value into their system despite it being correctly declared on both my tax return and the P11D form they are sent by my company payroll dept. I provided copies of both documents. They still wanted the cash immediately, and no hint of an apology for their ineptitude.
Fortunately I hadn't spent the money on a titanium frameset, so I was able to comply with their demands.
This year, they have excelled themselves. Because the company payroll slightly amended the name of our employer, HMRC decided that we all had two full-time jobs, each with an identical remuneration package, and started taxing us accordingly. This error couldn't be corrected once at source, instead all 600 or so employees had to phone their tax offices individually.

Our local tax office hadn't passed on anybody's payments to the Student Loans company for 3 years... I was only alerted to the problem when my statement told me I had had £2500 collected for repayment last Tax Year and my total to be repaid had increased.
They really are useless."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Student loans are hardly better.0 -
I'm pretty sure I'm safe as they gave me a grand in July for paying whilst at Uni0

Keef66 - if the Revenue have had all the information for more than one year and have failed to act on it despite you informing them that there was an issu than you may be able to claim "official error" and have the debt set aside - it is a route available where Revenue are in possession of the facts and have delayed unreasonably - see your accountant or pm me if you need any further info.

Having spent years on and off the sick due to the mental health issues I doubt anything's coming, if it does it'll be a feck up on the DSS's side and I'll owe money. No matter, they've looked after me.http://www.youtube.com/user/Eurobunneh - My Youtube channel.0

Thanks for the advice, but it's all water under the portcullis now. They lent me a grand for a year and I got to keep the interest!
According to my calculations we're at more or less break-even, so I'm keeping my head down till the next round of hostilities starts.0 -
I've not had a letter yet so I haven't looked through this properly, but Martins advice is usually okay, I hope this helps

Two of them arrived on my doormat today But they were about working tax credits and not the money they owe me, or I owe them.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
