Secondhand bargin?
scurrilous

Hi all,
Been thinking of getting a road bike for a while to make my commute a bit more interesting and go on longer jaunts at the weekend, but not convinced I want to part with a huge amount of money at the moment.
This Coventry Eagle has just come up on gumtree for £70 - sounds like a bargin, but are there any pitfalls I should watch out for?

Unless it's a Reynolds frame, I wouldn't pay £70 for itCarlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

The bolt-on rear mech hanger would indicate a low-rent chro-mo frame rather than something better quality - certainly not worthy of a restoration. £70 is an OK price, not a bargain - most parts are low-rent too. I've bought better frames for less.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I reckon £70 is fair. If it were better quality, it would be a lot more. I paid £150 for Columbus Aelle frame and £160 (in Italy) for the very light Columbus Nivacrome.
But then come the cost of the other bits, which add up to much more than the frame. This is a complete working bike, so I'd go for it as a cheapie commuter0
