  • "So, says Saville "I knew that a pattern could be introduced to a white shirt while still keeping it a white shirt: that could be a vehicle for colour."

"A minimal field of the cross of St George in different colours - I knew what that meant," Saville says. "Yes it was minimal, yes it was discreet but it still meant a big thing."

What a crock of pretentious shite.
  • I bet if it was a cover for a New Order album people would lap it up. Football fans are probably too conservative to accept stuff like this.

What, the shirt or the explanation? Unfortunately, footy fans have proved time and time again that they will buy any blinking top no matter how gash it is (reference various items through the years in brown, grey and orange, etc.). It seems that clubs and manufacturers treat the fans with the utmost contempt (a la Newcastle directors being caught boasting about how little shirts cost to make), like cash cows to be milked on a regular basis.

I only buy footy kit I like and I don't stop wearing something I like because it has been replaced 6 months later. My local pub is full of new shirts though so each to their own; some fans like keeping up and good on 'em.
