Advice please. The Planet X seems way better initially but it doesn't have a Sram crank or brakes whereas the Ribble is Ultegra throughout.

  • Someone must have an opinion on which bike I should go for. They're both around £1100. Advice appreciated. This will be my first "proper bike" so I want to make the best decision I can. Thanks.

I think the evo pro is new, so it's possible that very few people know much about it yet!

So, I see that the Planet-X Sram Red 'special deal' has ended and that it's now increased by £200 to £1299.99 and has a date of mid October....

....thankfully I pre-ordered last month and I've had my delivery date through.

Are you not considering the focus cayo?

Id go with Shimano over Sram
    I like white bikes

I'm a massive SRAM fan! The FSA Gosssamer is nothing to be sniffed at. Probably comparable to Ultegra

No idea about the brakes I'm afraid - to be honest it's a try both an see situation (ifficult with mail order though...)
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

  • +1 SRAM is far better than some horrible Japanese rubbish....better if it was a well known Italian firm.
FSA Gossamer cranks are quite nice, light ish weight, but stiff when pedalling.
Brakes wise, just change them if you don't like them.

FCN 3 or 4 on road depending on clothing
FCN 8 off road because I'm too old to go racing around.

makes the pre-built full red version at £1399 look a better deal. not many left though.

The brakes work fine. Not as good as the Sram Red ones - but they will stop you just fine.

Big fan of Sram also. Ribble frame looks nicer. The Planet X deal was better at £1099. Not sure at £1300.
