I gather this person was a formative part of your young life, but for those of us who don't reminisce about long dead musicians, would you mind explaining who this person is and why he's worth a topic?0

got the dates mixed anyway ....it was last week

but he was the greatest rock/blues geetarist who ever lived0

For a long time an almost lone blues voice in a wilderness of dross.
Very sad waste.I don't do smileys.

Jeff Healey in duet in that video, another who died too soon. Unbelievable talent, even SRV backs off in that one.
Ignore the youngsters - they probably get off on Z factor or Englands got flatulence.I don't do smileys.

Ah, got quite a bit of SRV myself and some of his brother Jimmie Vaughan's stuff too.
I do like what he did with Hendrix's Little Wing and Voodoo Chile (as featured in Blackhawk Down as they board the choppers shouting "Irene! F*ck yea!")
Another classic is his live performance of Riviera Paradise.
How quick 20 years has passed... whoah!0 -

I'm a young'un, but SRV was a great guitarist and singer, definitely worthy of a thread. A real shame, one of the people I'd loved to have seen live, but will never have the chance.0
