Thinking about pulling the trigger on this.......

I just love the look of this frame. Its a little funky and off the wall. Or, do you think I should go for more of a conventional colour? All suggestions welcome...cheers

I like the Mapei colours personally, I would only have the KoM scheme if I was king of the climbers...0
-
I ordered this colour last week:
Was tempted by this colour though:

or even this:

I would get it just to annoy people who would suggest that you shouldn't be riding it unless you earned it. You need to get the matching jersey and shorts! I'd even ride slowly up hills to really annoy everyone! Yes, you should get it!0

If I got one that's what would happen, except I'd be riding up the hills really slowly even when trying as hard as I can. I am a really crap climber!
(When I said king of the climbers I just meant generally a good climber, not the actual KoM)
If you like it, get it!!
I'm tempted to get my C50 redone Mapei style via Maestro.0 -

Yeah, come to think of it, it wouldn't be too difficult for me to ride slowly up the hills
Mind you, quite like the Mapei colours too. Get some matching kit from Prendas and head over to Arenberg in the spring!0 -
I think the KOTM colour scheme on the Colnago is fantastic but I also love the polka dot jersey...and won't wear it because I don't think I am worthy of it. I wish I didn't have that hang up but there you go.
I do have the polka dot version of the Cateye but that is there for a little discreet inspiration when I am suffering.0 -
Pity it's not pink with yellow spotsSay... That's a nice bike..

That would do it for me. Mr Blobby matches my climbing prowess0 -
Actually, I've had 2nd thoughts. Is your intention to buy and ride it for 2-3 years, then sell and get something else? You might have trouble selling it if that's the case. Just a thought?0
-
Cheers guys, much appreciated. I just fancy something a little funky in colour.0
-
Why not go custom steel then, you can have anything you like then! Something from someone like Rourke, Roberts, etc? You think choosing which colour Colnago is difficult!0
-
It will be a bad decision. You'll find yourself riding an expensive spotted frame and if you need to resell you'll find v.few takers. If you want a custom scheme I'm sure Maestro could do something or even Colnago? There is Atlantic Boulevard who supposedly do some good workM.Rushton0

Don't get stuck with a hard to sell frame!
I just tried to sell a 2.5k Titanium frame on eBay, less than 12 months old, for 899 quid. Not one bid! I thought that would be easy to sell!0 -
It's a bit more interesting than the usual predictable colour schemes. And it isn't quite the same statement as wearing a polka dot jersey. I rather like it!
Mind you, why have they put Boras on a KOM livery bike? :?Faster than a tent.......0 -
Having to make a similar choice. Gonna see if I can get this done on a c59,,
with either carbon forks and stays in the style of this..
Or just in naked carbon throughout with the colnago panels and logos.
Think the first option could look 8)
Go for the measles bike if you like it, who cares what we all think. It's nice to have something different.
Have you tried it btw Sleazy or Pretre, the C59? I'm intrigued to see if you thought it was as amazing as I, especially compared to the EPS in your case Sleazy.0 -
Crap, just called Maestro and the paint options thing is finished. He seemed quite sad about it but said he cant get unfinished frames anymore and stripping the frame would void any warranty. Really nice guy.
Pretty gutted as was set on the c59 in black as above with naked carbon forks and stays. I've had a picture of it in my head all day. Sad, I know.
Where were you planning on getting the Kom Sleazy?
I'm hoping you're gonna throw me a lifeline as I'm really not fussed on the standard c59 finishes bar matte black and I can see that looking dated fairly quickly.

Ah...sad news. But all is not lost. Colnago do offer a custom paint-finish on their frames. I think it costs a little more, but they ofer the option. Personally, I just fanct something a little funky. My EPS is the AMIT colour and looks really great.
Have a look at this http://www.colnagouniverse.com/paintcodes.html and http://colnago-frames.com/0 -

With a 59cm top tube, no wonder it's hard to sell. Besides, why pay £899 for used, when you could have one for £1300 new with lifetime warranty?

Admittedly, it's an older model, but it's not as if Litespeed's reputation is improving with age.0 -

Brave man to ride that if you're anything other than a sh1t hot climber. I remember a moustachio'd bloke in the 06 Dragon ride, resplendent in full polka dot gear and looking awfully, awfully serious and purposeful. That is, until the road went upwards and he went backwards relative to almost everybody else. What a turkey!0 -
If it fits it fits.
Mine is a newer model with better headset and is 400 quid cheaper than that...
What's it to you anyway?
And what's up with someone trying their hardest in bike clothing they like?0 -
Yup, if it fits, it fits. My point is that a 59cm top tube won't fit that many people (6' 3" + at a guess) , thus making it difficult to sell.
In my eyes, for the extra £400, you could get a brand new Litespeed Siena with the assurance that it hasn't had a hard paper round and you'd get a lifetime warranty. The head tube looks the same on both models, i.e. non-integrated.
I think the above two points illustrate why I think £899 isn't a good price. Judging by your difficulties, the market seems to agree. But good luck selling it, all the same.0 -

That is a shame Meastro's no longer offer the custom paint option. Mike is a really nice bloke and his business is just Colnago heaven. Mike has to be the most informative and pleasant of people whom i have had the pleasure of meeting, pity there are not more like him

I'm 6'1 and it's fine. Anyhoo, I've just rebuilt it with full Sram Red and it's tops!
Apologies for de-railing this topic.0 -
Anyhow...back to the C59 topic0

FWIW I think the Polka Dots looks great but for how long? :?0
