Two kids, two lost jobs?

Both my kids work for a well know company.

Today, the youngest one rings up and says, they are getting rid of him, 1 weeks notice.
( Think it's because he starts college on Monday, they claim no knowledge but he told them in interview months ago, He can do both as he's P/Time.)

Then, few hrs later oldest rings up and says a "prank" went wrong, had to see manager, suspended. Told the honest truth. Meeting on Monday to decide his fate.

So, it seems that now the kids have gone back to school, employers looking for excuses to lay-off staff.

With so many out of work, seems the "To hire and fire" thing rings true...

Might just be a coincidence but sounds strange.

    What did your eldest do?

My brother has been trying to get a job all summer and so far has failed.

thats really bad luck, especially on the youngest. At least he's got his head screwed on and going to college, and I guess that another job wont be far round the corner, especially as it sounds like he's got the right approach to things

The older lad, made a mistake, but lets hope his honest hands up attitude holds him in good stead

good luck to both of them though

KITTY; Can't say what the eldest did, but customer took a remark/act, and reported it to the Supervisor.

Think his actions were "questionable", but...not so bad as to Suspend him.

He loves the job too, has done for over a year.

Told him to contact his Union asap.
  • Union is the best approach for both of boys, especially the youngest. This sounds like unreasonable grounds to terminate employment, so I would take it up with union and they should support him fullly once they know the whole story.

As far as the prank from your eldest, it doesn't seem so bad as to suspend or fire, but I don't know what the remark was. Seems everyone these days are too sensitive.

Bit pointless to comment without knowing what the 'prank' was. Obviously enough to pee a customer off.

Unfotyunately with less than a years service they can just let you go as long as they abide by your terms and conditions. As for the other lad, well pranks in front of customers are an easy way get yourself in big trouble. Don't think it's a trend, just a conincidence.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

I would recommend discovering punctuation if you have to write anything down.
