Disc brake on road wheel

I have a cannondale mountain bike, and am planning to do a long road cycle event.
I have a pair of road wheels from a road racing bike. The problem is the front road wheel will not take a disc brake.
Can I buy a new hub for these road wheels that will take a disc brake or do I need a whole new rim?

the simple answer is yes.
You can lace any hub to any rim as long as they both have the same number of holes. Some cross bikes are now using disks so it'll be more common to find "road" wheels with disk mounts.
Now the question is will your "road" wheels fit your mountain bike ?? Adult road bikes use 700c wheels that are bigger than your 26" MTB wheel. Some kids road bikes use 26" wheels tho.
Why not just use your MTB wheels and put some think slicks on ?0 -
Might be easier and cheaper to buy the components and build a new wheel.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

new hubs and use the old or rims not to mention new spokes."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

go into halfords, as the carrera gryphon comes with 700c disc wheels, so they can order u a set through the spares by bike spec section. they come from raleigh i believe,
or if you want better ones, Paligap, the kona supplier, do the richtey ones that come on the boardman hybrids, also 700c disc.0
