I feel the complete opposite when unclipped and find my feet bouncing about on the pedals and thinking about where my feet are ? When i,m clipped in i dont even think about it and just concentrate on the best line !

How are your feet bouncing about when you should be in the attack position for the bouncy stuff, placing full weight on your pedals ;)

Interesting though CraigXXL to go from riding local canal paths and woodland trails to a MBR killer loop!
  • Craig - awesome work for tackling that ride. As I live in Sheffield, the Peak is on my doorstep so know it well.

regarding pedals - whatever your most comfortable with mate. I swithched back to flats in the Peak and i find i ride faster on the techy rocky stuff now as not thinking about my feet all the time and using my limited brain power to concentrate on my line.

re: technique on the rocky stuff - speed is your friend. stay loose on the bike, bend your arms and legs and DON'T grip the saddle with your thighs.

all those people you saw skipping from rock to rock will of stacked it at one point or another so just build up slowleey.

most importantly, remember it's meant to be fun. if you end the ride with a grin on your face, your doing it right!

pisser about the ribs, done it myself (on the beast while using clipless!), they heal pretty quick though. keep at it buddy
  • @ the OP : well done for having a crack at it. I've ridden all over the UK and I still class the riding around Hope/Edale as the toughest I've found especially when it comes to technical loose terrain.
