Garmin 705 city Nav map prob

Hi

A mate has a 705 with the city nav sd card. that works in mine and his Garmin 705. However if i copy the card onto another sd card and then put that in. it doesnt unlock the maps in neither his or mine? Anyone know why?

Because the maps are locked to that card.

Is there any way of unlocking them or being able to copy across??????

Not as far as I know - maps are either locked to a device, or locked to a card - not unreasonable, otherwise they'd never sell any maps! In this case, the maps are locked to the card.
