  • mine ( a halford double child width one) has an attatchment that is held on by the rar QR, some of the ones i looked at were a clamp on the chainstay or had a small bracket that was held on through the QR then the trailer slots onto the end of that,

i ran mine on both hard tail and full sussr but it was an old style bouncer!!

Depends on the bike and trailer. For example my Burley Cub trailer is incompatible with my Stumpjumper as the cub has a bracket that fits inside the rear triangle which on a stumpjumper changes shape.

In general though there is no fundamental reason why you can't use a full suss with a trailer.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
  • I've seen one on a FS clamped to the seatpost.
  • Just remember that you're on an FS before you take your kid down a mad trail... I remember being in Centerparcs and a bloke overtook us with a kid in a trailer, the back wheel of the trail hit a root and nearly pitched the kid in to the undergrowth.

  • We had a Halford single trailor (now gathering dust in the garage!) Its ideal from ages 1-4 but after that I'd be looking at a tag-along bike. The daughter got too big for the trailor at about 4 and I decided its time she shared the pedalling!

Jr went in a trailer when he was approx 18 months old. It was the first time I'd seen him frown :)

Ouch, poor kid! I wonder if a trailer would attach to a downhill bike too :P I'm sure the kids would love to go down a super steep run with you!
  • Got a Croozer 2 and it fits on both Hardtail and Full sus. There is an attachment that fits on the end of the QR then clips on to the trailer arm. Booklet says not to use with a Full sus though and I can see the point as it pulls on the rear wheel and pulls your suspension in a way its not supposed to be pulled. But pulling a kid in a trailer youre not going to be doing daft stuff and going too fast so it shouldnt matter. Mine has coped ok anyway.

Croozer is big enough to stuff wee mans bike in the back of the trailer too so when he wants to get out and cycle he can. He is 3 so cant cycle too far.

  • We have a Burley Solo and it's excellent - sits no probs on my Mount Vision and the wife's Stumpjumper D4W - replaces the rear QR and off you go. It won't fit on my Pace RC-200 as the rear drop-out is too chunky so it doesn't fit.

Riding the bike is fine with trailer in tow...it has some suspension due to elastomers...it works but until the load is heavy enough they jsut bounce around a wee bit. Didn't stop my daughter falling asleep vrey quickly though...we haven't done anything major offroad with it (and don't realy intend to) but towpaths and canal paths are no probs...cobbles are also fine...if I was out with my daughter on the bike/trailer I wouldn't be takin her to my usual riding spots anyway.

Bike remains manueverable (which I can't spell!) and the trailer doesn't add anything to the weight you are pushing - add a child and you might notice a difference - but you can get up a fair rate of knots with it and they seem pretty happy in it.
