Has anybody done this route from Bourg d'Oisans in the Alps. Going there next week and look for a decent route to do. Couple of us are fairly fit, one not so so bit worried if it might be a bit much. The last 30miles look pretty much downhill mind! It says its the partial Marmotte route however which i know is supposed to be very very tough, and there doenst seem to be any bail outs

I can see it takes in the Col du Galibier & Telegraphe

If anyone else has any suggested routes that would be great...dont worry, planning to do the Alpe on the saturday! 8)

A good source of routes from Bourg is

    http://www.bikes-oisans.com/oisans-trail-cyclo-21.html

We did the Alpe a few times and other climbs, but to be honest i really loved No4 on the list above. Not the hardest on the list by any means but climbing through staggeringly beautiful scenery and some sleepy little villages in the middle of nowhere was to me the highlight of my stay there, plus when you get over the top you still have the Alpe to come down

When you get to Bourg you can pick up the routes listed above in book form from the tourist office and the best food we found there was in La Romanche lovely Lasagne and excellent service.

    Enjoy yourself.

FWIW I loved route 21 to the Col de la Croix de fer.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

  • Its basically the route used on the Marmotte however you are not finishing on the Alpe. If you have the energy left in your legs do it! Just set off nice and early, drink and eat lots and all that jazz!

Its a good route but long and hard, I did it in August this year, finishing on the Alpe. Prepare to be very tired. If you are col grabbing you can get the Col du Glandon as well as you take a left turn about 2kms before the top of the Croix de Fer and it is about 30m to the top of the Glandon. (If you are following the route clockwise!)

Have a great time, i'm super jealous!

I was in Bourg in June and did pretty much all the climbs listed in this thread, including Alp Duez 3 times. Great place to ride and you are spoilt for choice with climbs everywhere you look.

Going back out next June for more punishment..;-)
