but again marketed well.
Big pile off pooo!
I'm on 3, apparently got Skype and video calling. But I see no need for either, I did a video call once, just to see if it worked, but other than that I haven't touched it. And I get so many free minutes that there's no need for skype!0 -
Never used it but theres a skype app on the iphone, has been for years?
I do agree though, should have the option of slightly poorer quality and use of 3G if out of a wifi area area? that will probaly happen in a later update?0 -

Yep.

Skype app doesn't do video, and I wouldn't hold your breath on it doing it this side of 2015. It took Skype two months to get their iOS 4 compatible version out.
The reason Facetime is Wifi only is because AT&T's network in the US is absolutely appalling, and while Apple are only making a GSM version of the iPhone, we're stuck with AT&T being wank and crippling the iPhone.0 -

of the other features which are supposedly better on other phones and platforms how many do you reckon you will actually use. i only use the capacity to make calls, send mesages and check my emails.
all phones do this now so in reality it comes down to which is easiest to use and best to look at.
iphones look good, work well and do all of the things most non geek phone bore technofashionistas want and the apps which are available are a gajillian miles better than any of the collections available for any other fone, plus the app store is easy and quick to use.
as it happens i use blackberry as i think they are good looking, easy to use and do the 3 things i want a phone to do very well, better than any other one i have tried.
i wish more people could afford iphones then i would have to see less bleating on about it from poor people.
Hardly poor mate, but i'm not one of the sheeps for apple. You mention the iphone app store has many more applications and is easy to use. Have you tried the Andriod app store? It's exactly the same and probably has about the same amoujnt of apps.
Like usual, i'm not knocking the phone, i'm knocking the sheep who act like the Iphone is the greatest thing to hit earth, and is the only phone worth looking it, and will only ever consider the new iphone rather than looking at new models from other brands.0 -
Although this is surprisingly chilled debate  how many people actually use Video Calling on a regular basis. (and no Sheeps, chat room web cams do not count)
I'd say easily over 50% of the voice calls are to/from someone I don't really want to hear, let alone look at ?0 -
Me and a mate had a video call once, was perfect in quality (helped that we both had full signal) but neither of us have used it since. It was cool to do with our brand new phones 3/4 years ago, but haven't felt the need to use it since.
But as with almost everything Apple put in their adverts; people will start using it as if it's the newest thing to hit the market. You've have gotta admire the publicity/ad team Apple use, they manage to somehow take something old and make it huge.0 -
The Northern Monkey wrote:The iPhone4 only does "facetime" to other iPhone 4's... which is sh!t... and tbh... video calling on a mobile is sh!t anyways.... it never took off the 1st time 3 mobile started putting it out.
Not really...
everyone knows that iPhone 4 owners are wealthier and better looking than owners of other phones <shudders>...
I don't want to video call ugly folk, or android phone owners as they are more commonly known.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

cee
I'm off to vegas in a couple of weeks, (i may of mentioned this) but it would be lovely to be able to talk to the wife and kids face to face as it were? trouble is neither of us have the 4 only the 3G's bugger
when i lived in cornwall and had a 3G handset i would have to drive to the otherside of the penisula to get a decent 3G signal to call her so i could talk face to face, but it was worth it0 -

who said they dont work? even with a death grip, in a low coverage area...on a single bar I can make a clear phone call or send a text. check my email and play angry birds. free satnav works well on 3g as does speed camera alerts. its also an ipod you know? which i can plug my own quality pair of headphones in so that i can listen to it whilst riding dangerously on busy roads with my eyes closed, weaving from one side of the road to the other...dont hate the player, hate his iphoneCrafted in Italy apparantly0 -

it is ?
aah crap , just bought an at&t pay as you go sim card for use in my phone whilst in the states. :?
in what way are they a load of toss ?
Poor coverage, and their network doesn't have the capacity to support the number of users they have.
You'll be alright if you want to make voice calls...maybe...0 -
It is amusing really- the iPhone 4 "everything changes again".
Don't get me wrong it is nicely built but sticking a flash on it and putting an extra camera in isn't exactly ground breaking!
When the iPhone 4 spec was released I was interested but the price plans are shocking IMO.
Ended up with a HTC Desire- so far I'm loving it.0 -
I have a friend with an iPhone 4. He is constantly trying to find ways in which it is better than my phone (Nokia X6), which I got for free on a cheaper contract, trying to justify the massive expense. More often than not, he fails, when I reveal that my phone, and most phones I've ever had, have already got the revolutionary new feature he's just discovered.0

Guy at at works got the X6 and TBH there isn't much difference in smartphones these days.
But the whole Apple fan boys / Apple haters thing is annoying.0 -
