Adjusting Plant X Brakes
Hi,
I've got the planet x single pivot brakes, and the front seems to work ok, but the rear is shite. Proper hopeless.
I've adjusted them so that both pads contact the rim at the same time, but having never used brakes like these before I've no idea if the way i've adjusted them is correct.
Can someone give any advice or step by step instructions on how best to adjust these so that they work to the best of their potential?
Cheers

Rear usually isn't as good, just like motorbikes. As you brake more weight goes on the front wheel, so that aids breaking. Have you set up the inner properly so with the brake lever let go, the pads are fairly close to the rim, so you get a lot of force onto the pad with not too much movement?Say... That's a nice bike..

Not sure what the problem is - but simply insert an allen key into the centre bolt (looks like it's joining the two halves of the brakes) and gently turn in until the brakes pads are centered - or equadistant from each rim.
Use the barrel adjuster to tighten the pads - or move them closer to the wheel if they aren't close enough.
Also consider better pads if you're not getting enough stopping power.
I use these brakes and have no problems. Post up more questions if this doesn't help.0 -
I assume these are the Zero Gravity look alikes? I've got a pair with a different name on them.
Two things turn them from a normal brake into a very good one. Use Kool Stop salmon pads, the wet weather ones, Shimano fit. Set the brakes up with a more movement than you might otherwise use.0 -
Swisstop green pads made a big improvement to mine0
