LBS's:

TRAILS:
In Manchester, nothing I'm aware of that's worth mentioning, however within a reasonable vicinity there's:
- Lee Quarry http://adrenaline-gateway.co.uk/LeeQuarry.aspx
- Delamere Forest (bit tame, but ok for a couple of hours bumbling around and exploring) http://www.forestry.gov.uk/website/forestry.nsf/byunique/infd-5k2bt9
- Llandegla (1 hr down the M56 into N.Wales), trail centre, fast & flowing, not particularly technical http://www.coedllandegla.com/
- A bit further afield, head out to the Peak District, lots of great natural riding from Hayfield
- Gisburn Forest http://www.forestry.gov.uk/website/recreation.nsf/LUWebDocsByKey/EnglandLancashireNoForestGisburn0 -
Not ti mention loads of natural riding around Rossendale and Calderdale to the north of Manchester (Lee Quarry is on the border between the two). It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
Rivington is a good day out, not too far from Manchester0

Healey Nab is worth a visit if you're in Rivington.
There's also Cragg Quarry near Lee Quarry. There's a link being built between the two, but apparently there's another way of getting between them.0 -
Get the train out to Hebden Bridge. And if I see you out on the trails I will mug you for a flapjack for the tip0

Cheers guys. A fair bit to be going on with there. I like the look of Lee Quarry so will try to get out there in the next coupe of weeks0
