Today, I weigh in at 81KG!
That's what happens when you get out from behind the desk and make some blooming effort on the exercise front (and don't eat tonnes and tonnes of rubbish throughout the day - ahem).
Apologies for the self congratulatory thread, but hadn't really thought about it until now and now that I have, I'm really really chuffed!
I have fallen in love with cycling again (mainly because I can actually go out and ride without it hurting everywhere) - hurrah!

No need to apologise - you're right to give yourself a pat on the back - that's a fair old weight loss. Congratulations. It sounds like as well as the added expense of bike bits you've also had to buy yourself a new wardrobe!0

That's excellent
I too am over 100kg ( too much weightlifting, beer and crisps ) and am sick of my wife leaving me up the hills
I would imagine at 80kg it makes a serious diiference to your climbing?0 -
Well done. That gives me some inspiration to pull my finger out. I topped out at 86kg which is pretty big for my spindly frame. I've only lost 3kg over many months of trying so it's time to step up the effort.0

Thanks folks
Yes, hill climbing - and all cycling and sport in general - has become considerably easier following the weight shifting antics.
In my early 30s, I used to weigh in the low 70 KGs, primarily because I had a very active outdoorsy job and because I was doing a bit of running. Climbing was a breeze!
However, this healthy lifestyle vanished once I changed careers and took a desk-based job, which routinely saw me doing 12 hour days +. Unless one is careful, it's a surefire way to gain weight, as I often felt too tired to exercise at the end of the day, and also turned to HFSS foods as an easy energy source.
The aim now is to commute to work 2 or 3 times per week (round trip of 50 miles) so that getting the exercise in actually becomes part of the daily unavoidable routine.
Top tip if you want to shift weight quickly without starving yourself - swap your meals around, so that you eat dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. I went the whole hog and actually ate my actual evening meal for brekkie (chilli and rice at 8 am is certainly novel) but ofc you don't have to do that - just front load. It's initially an odd feeling, eating exactly the same, but never feeling hungry, not wanting to snack and not going to bed bloated, but it works extremely well."A gentleman who goes by the name Upgrayedd. Well done. A number of years ago I went from 95kg down to 65kg. It's been slowly creeping back on over the years and I'm back up to 75kg. No matter how much I cycle I just can seem to get back to 65kg (I've not put on muscle though... must be because I'm approaching 30 years old).
Keep up the hard work! even when you get don to your target weight0 -
I'm 80kg down from about 95kg back in late 2002. I'm 37 years old and I've been 80kg pretty much consistently for many years so I don't think age has much to do with it. I've still got a pair of shorts that fit me from when I was 21 years old...Do not write below this line. Office use only.0
