Hi all, I need some help with a route? The route I plan to do is from Langdale along Cumbria Way over Stake Pass, then to Stonethwaite, Seatoller and Seathwaite. From there along the bridleway to Sty Head down past Sprinkling Tarn, Angle Tarn and Rossett Gill. I've worked out that the distance is roughly 16 miles on the map measurer but I'm unsure of the total height gain as I dont have memory map etc. Also which direction would be the best, clockwise or anti clockwise??? So I was hoping someone may have already done it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would say leave the bike at home as you'll be walking most of that route.Stake pass  then down Langstrath  The path from Seathwaite to Sty head Tarn is a hike-a-bike at best then on to Sprinkling Tarn is worse.
There's a reason that route isn't in any guide books or on any Forum rides....it's a walk not a ride0 -
Thanks for the post! Will probably give a this route a miss then as i've just done nan bield pass in kentmere which was in mbr from the picture it looked great however they must have taken it on the only rideable section as it was just a push and carry all the way to the top, not fun! The decent on the other hand was a real buzz! Good to see someone else riding a specialized enduro!!0

Change the direction and you've got some fantastic descents there. From the top of Stake Pass, take a left past Angle Tarn, then you've got a cracking descent to Styhead and all the way down to Seathwaite. Follow the road around to Stonethwaite, up the valley, and it's about a 20 minute hike a bike back up to the top of the pass....then the long second descent of the day back into Langdale. The two carries are worth it for the descents.0
