Cosmic Carbones v RS10's - make a noticeable difference?

Hi all,

Just switched my Shimano RS10 wheels to a set of Cosmic Carbones - they were a very good price so despite not having any issues with the RS10's thought i'd give the Cosmics a go..

I assumed after some research (rightly or wrongly) that I would notice a difference - and I have in being that I can attain and hold a higher cruising speed due to the aero factor - but apart from that everything else seems to need more damn effort despite the Cosmics being a lighter wheelset.

Pretty sure the cassette that came with the wheels is the same ratio too.

Am I missing something?

Surely the change of wheels wont have affected my ride in a negative way?!

Or am I just having a really tired week so far!! (quite possible!)

What do you mean by everything else needing more effort?

Aero wheels are all about maintaining a higher cruising speed.

I mean that accelerating up to speed and also climbing are tending to be harder and requiring more effort than on the RS10's - I am noticing that I am using a lower gear than I usually would on the same route. I assumed with the Cosmics being lighter acceleration and climbing would at least be the same.

On the flat once moving however I can see a 2-3 mph difference.

As I said, it may be due to energy levels - but curious for others opinion - and no, I dont have wattage figures to back this up sorry.

Same tyres (and pressure) and cassette ratios ?
Could be on a hilly route the extra weight (if there is some) is having a negative effect.
