hill decending

I was recently told about a road in Plymouth that is very steep, and as I am currently on a hill climbing regime at the moment i thought I would give it a try. Daily I take in hills that have a maximum of 35% and havent been beaten yet, but!!!!!!!!!
This road was different. The climb was easy, it was the decending that i couldn't do, on google maps it doesnt look like anything that bad, I dont know if it was because of the left turn at the bottom that made it different, but it just felt like I was about to go arse over tit, my brakes are fine so it has nothing to do in confidence of the bike.
.
Anyone else have this experience?
P.s the road is called Reddington.

Read this article on descents. It is mostly about doing alpine style descents at speed but much of the stuff is applicable to any downhill
